Emotional Eating - Get Beyond the Food

What to eat?

Beautiful flavors, wonderful aromas, a nice plate of food?

Fill Something for you when you're hungry?

A great gift that you can share with others and enjoying their company?

A list of calories, fat grams or carbohydrate grams?

A stack of Guilty Pleasures, or healthy (less satisfactory) alternatives?

Food should not be anything to us. We use food to energy and nutrients to our body to give becausesure, but it is also a source of joy for the pure joy of eating. It allows us to spend time sharing with others in a social and fashion.

And sometimes we need to eat because we are hungry, even if we do not have time to eat. Occasionally we may use food to fill the long gaps in between nothing to eating out of boredom or loneliness. Each of us has a composite approach to food, a mosaic of behaviors that describes our relationship with food.

But whatpredominates for you? And you are (with food too often, the gaps in the rest of your life to fill or block, the other things that go on)?

To see how you view food next time you eat, and for the next day you ask yourself these questions before dinner:

* Am I really hungry? And on a scale of 1 to 10, how hungry I am? - Calibrate eat to manage your hunger.

* Is this primarily a social meal, I am withFriends? -If so, you may want more time for talking and listening as food.

* I eat out of habit, just because they provide a meal period? - You can wait half an hour or so and then measure your hunger (but do not get hungry too big).

* I eat for emotional hunger - into an emotional gap to fill (I'm lonely or bored) or too much emotion squash (I'm angry).

It takes courage to (answer the last question and I will speakMore about courage in the next newsletter), but if emotional eating is your downfall, you can not handle it purely on the level of the food, you must address the emotions.

Sometimes only stop, and thus feel themselves, what you feel, your emotional brain is the necessary support so that you're really going to enjoy your food.

Try it and see.
